Taylor Swift Strikes Back

If you’ve opened the iTunes store in the last three days, you’ve probably seen Taylor Swift’s “Mine” sitting at the top of the charts. (And if you haven’t, perhaps you’ve seen one of her twenty gigantic banner ads.) If you haven’t heard it (lucky bastards), you can listen to the original here.

Moving on with the show, my tribute to her majesty Taylor:

Lyrics:

You were in transit, flipped the station, heard this song
Needed auto-tune – thought, “Taylor Swift’s back”
It was a bland track, with some inane lyrics
Wonderin’ how it’s country, oh well, it’ll blow up fast

I say, “Can you believe it?”
This is racing up the charts
This note, she can’t reach it
No no, she can’t reach this note

By mid-September you’ll be hearing this every hour
Let’s throw the fairytale theme here in this line
Top spot on iTunes cuz of tweens’ moms’ buying power
So for a few months, we’ll suffer through “Mine”

Flash forward and it’s lodged in your brain forever
Beside “You Belong With Me” and “Love Story”
She writes these lyrics all talking ‘bout guys in college
Still comes across like she’s only fifteen

Sings ‘bout the good ol’ days
When there was no iPhone 4
Oops, that was yesterday
Oh wait, guess they’re not quite times of yore

By mid-September you’ll be hearing this every hour
Let’s throw the fairytale theme here in this line
Top spot on iTunes cuz of tweens’ moms’ buying power
So for a few months, we’ll suffer through “Mine”

H..ey love taks words. Have you got more? And why do you hate Taylor? She’s like a musical Shakespeare, wrote one song and regurgitated it at least 30 times, made a whole dunghill of money and will probabaly live happily ever after. Except Shakespeare was overrated only after death.

Finally, someone agrees! I thought I was going insane and no one else was hearing her blandness! Everyone around me adores her, and I just don’t understand it.
